A chatbot for statistical information in a country database

Accso developed a chatbot to facilitate navigation and searches in a country database and other databases. Employees can ask the chatbot questions to obtain information on statistical data. The chatbot relieves the burden on employees and ensures barrier-free access to the database.

Our client develops and operates the state database (LDB), which provides cross-thematic results of official statistics such as the inflation rate or the population status. The database contains over 1.24 billion values and almost 3000 tables in 224 statistics. It is being continuously expanded.

Citizens have the opportunity to request information from the database free of charge. Due to the enormous size of the database and the need to translate the requests into specialist statistical terms, this used to involve a great deal of effort for employees.

 

Simplified access to the country database via chat interface with Accso

We have implemented a GPT-based chatbot for our customer that makes it easier to navigate and search the country database. Users can nowformulate their queriesin natural language in a chatand receive a customized response. In this way, we are making the database accessible to employees in a simple and accessible way and relieving their workload through a more efficient search. Access does not require any additional knowledge.

 

Neutrality and accuracy thanks to source information in the chatbot

The State Statistical Office follows the principle of neutrality and has high standards when it comes to the objectivity and accuracy of the answers. For this reason, a particular focus during the development of the chatbot was on avoiding AI-typical hallucinations or the purely probability-based continuation of text. Instead of a text, the chatbot provides source information on suitable entries in the database, which the office staff can forward to citizens.
