Who are you and what do you do at Accso?

I am Yoka, an educator, software developer and, more recently, a business analyst. At Accso, I work particularly in positions and projects that require a lot of communication and moderation. In my day-to-day work, this means that I prepare and moderate many meetings and "pull the threads together". For me, this means that I ask a lot of questions, ask for and understand perspectives and plan and coordinate the next steps. Then, of course, I also implement the requirements and wishes I have been asked about on the technical and software side.

Tell us about your educational background

I originally come from the field of education, I did a voluntary service year in a child and adolescent psychiatric clinic and then studied to become a teacher of mathematics and Spanish in Cologne. After my Master's degree, my enthusiasm for mathematics convinced me to study again - this time a dual degree in Applied Mathematics & Computer Science at Aachen University of Applied Sciences. So I came to software development via these detours.

What is your technological focus?

I am an enthusiastic backend developer and did research in the field of AI & chatbots at the University of Applied Sciences. I enjoy doing both, preferably in combination. But I'm also not at all angry if I do more conceptual work at times and am less directly involved in the technical development.

Which project was special for you during your time at Accso?

S-Bahn Munich! The project is designing 90 new S-Bahn trains that will soon be on the rails and will contain a lot of new software. I work for the IT security team there. The whole project, but also my job in it, feels super meaningful to me because I'm helping to bring about a change in transportation and at the same time I can make the new trains safer.

Are you active in any communities or networks?

I recently joined Kollin Freise as community manager for the Green IT Community. We are looking for ways to make software greener and more sustainable and to raise awareness of this among our colleagues. I am also part of the Data Science & Machine Learning Community, where I try to incorporate the Green IT aspect whenever possible.

And last but not least, I am part of the fantastic diversity network at Accso, where I help to raise awareness of diversity and its opportunities and challenges in our everyday work and at events.
