1. Kickoff WorkshopRefine the Objective and Scope
Together, we define the objectives, scope, stakeholders, and framework.
Based on this, we create the following as part of the assessment:
- an overview map of the relevant part of the application and data landscape
- (systems/components, databases, interfaces, data flows)
- an overview of the technologies and platforms in use
- a classification of the supported business capabilities and business processes
In addition, we identify strategic requirements as well as functional, technological, and organizational framework conditions.
2. Review & AnalysisAssessment of the Current Situation
We develop a robust understanding of the current state – depending on the scope and specific questions – through, among other things:
- Review of existing documentation
- Interviews with key stakeholders
- Tool-assisted architecture analysis
- Tool-assisted code review and analysis (where appropriate)
- Focus workshops on selected aspects
The assessment is conducted using structured, scenario-based methods (e.g., ATAM-based approaches) and – where possible – with the support of tools and AI. If necessary, we conduct a Deep Dive for individual applications to evaluate the architecture and codebase qualitatively and quantitatively at an appropriate level of depth.
3. Evaluation & DocumentationRisks, Areas Requiring Action, Measures
Based on the findings, we conclude:
- Architecture overview and mapping (consolidated)
- Health check with hot spots, vulnerabilities, and risks
- Prioritized action items
- Identified and prioritized measures
We also design and evaluate modernization scenarios and technology options—as a basis for strategic decisions such as:

- Re-hosting

- Lightweight process automation
Based on this, we create a realistic roadmap for your modernization project – using AI if desired.
4. Touchdown WorkshopResults and Next Steps
We present the results, discuss options, and jointly define next steps. The Quick Check lays the foundation for a phased transition to a modern, flexible, API-centric, and future-proof architecture. Depending on your needs, we also develop guidelines for development methodology, organization, and a suitable operating model.
