Digitized Application Processes for the German Federal Film Board

The German Federal Film Board (FFA) is Germany’s national film funding agency. It provides funding for feature films at all stages of their creation and theatricaal distribution: from screenplay development through production to distribution. Additional funds are allocated to support movie theaters, preserve Germany’s film heritage, promote and disseminate German films abroad, and provide film education. As the federal film funding agency, the FFA has also been administering the tax-funded film and cinema grants of the Federal Government Commissioner for Culture and the Media (BKM) since January 1, 2025. With a total funding budget of 281 million euros in 2025, the FFA is the central funding authority for the German film industry.

For applicants, the portal offers a simple, fast, and transparent way to apply for funding, saving time and stress thanks to its intuitive interface. Guided forms and automatic checks assist with data entry and help prevent errors. The processing status can be viewed online at any time; users are automatically notified via status updates. A special workflow for corrections allows users to resubmit specific fields or pages of the form.

For the FFA, automated distribution of applications and clear workflows ensure faster and more transparent processes. Processing is accelerated, paperwork is reduced, and traceability is improved.
