Women @ Accso – Gulmariyam Yerzhanova
Who are you and what do you do at Accso?
I am Gulmariyam Yerzhanova and I work at Accso as a software engineer. I started at Accso three years ago as a working student, wrote my thesis here and started working full-time straight after graduating.
Tell us about your educational background
I am from Kazakhstan and came to Germany to study computer science. I started with business informatics but the business studies part was too big for me. That's why I switched to pure computer science at the University of Düsseldorf.
What is your technological focus?
My focus is on architectures, architectural styles and domain-driven design. My final thesis was about architectural styles. I implemented small web applications with different architectural styles in order to compare them.
In my current project at a bank, I don't have much architecture work, but there are still some tasks that I can be involved in, such as architecture decisions. My thesis also helps with this.
Which project was special for you during your time at Accso?
In my first project as a working student, I was assigned to the testing department and wrote surface tests. I had never done that before. It taught me a lot and introduced me to new technologies and frameworks.
In my current project at the Deka Group, we are a small team of five people. I am happy to be able to make decisions independently and contribute new ideas. It's nice not just to work on tasks in the background, but to be involved in all tasks.
