Who are you and what do you do at Accso?

I am Lara Engelbrecht, I have been with Accso for almost two years, working as a full-stack software engineer. Recently, my focus has shifted more towards front-end development.

Tell us about your educational background

After high school, I attended a university open day and instantly discovered my passion for programming. I then pursued a bachelor's degree in Information Technology, majoring in Computer Science and Mathematical Statistics, at the University of the Free State. After earning my degree, I specialized in Computer Science and Informatics and received my honours.

What is your technological focus?

Over the past few years, my technical focus has evolved. Initially, I worked primarily on a C# WPF project, maintaining a press image database system. A few months ago, I began my journey with Angular and am now working on a C# Angular project, concentrating on the front-end development.

Which project was special for you during your time at Accso?

I worked on a project that managed a press image database system, utilizing C# WPF — a technology I had to learn despite its long-standing presence. Currently, I am working on an organ donation system, which aligns with my passion for helping others. This project is also my first client project involving Angular, and I have been thoroughly enjoying the experience.

In addition to my project work, I have taken the time to understand LLMs and develop small test applications, which I found very intriguing. I hope to one day contribute to projects with my knowledge of LLMs.
