Who are you and what do you do at Accso?

My name is Rabea Sennlaub and I've been at Accso for almost four years - time has really gone by quickly! I work here as a software developer, developing software solutions and advising our customers on projects. My main focus is currently on the backend area.

Tell us about your educational background

I studied computer engineering at the TU Ilmenau. The course was an exciting mix of computer science, electrical engineering and robotics. In my Master's degree, I specialized in machine learning, image processing and human-machine interaction. During this time, I mainly worked with Python, but now I also use Kotlin a lot. Through various projects at Accso, I discovered my enthusiasm for software architecture - clean, modular and maintainable code bases are particularly important to me. I like challenges and find it exciting to develop the right solutions for different problems.

What does your day-to-day work look like and what are your other roles at Accso?

In addition to my work as a software developer, I am also involved in other areas at Accso, e.g. in the Diversity and Advancement of Women networks. I am also active in the Industry 4.0 and Data Science & Machine Learning communities. These topics are very close to my heart and I think it's great that Accso gives me the opportunity to play an active role here - that's by no means a given. We have a really good, supportive corporate culture at Accso.

Which project was special for you during your time at Accso?

A particular highlight for me was working on smart city projects in various German cities. These involved, for example, the optimization of public transport and environmentally sensitive traffic management. It gives me a good feeling to be involved in projects that contribute to climate protection and the traffic turnaround.

I am currently working on the further development of the recommendation systems for the ARD media library and audio library. It's great to see what we are working on and what added value we are creating directly for users. I find it particularly meaningful that we are supporting the educational mission of public broadcasters, minimizing bias and enabling a good user experience.
