My passion for software development goes back to the era when the first home computers became affordable (ZX20, C64 & Co). I can count myself among the lucky ones who were able to turn their hobby into a profession and so I entered the IT industry in 1999 as a graduate computer scientist (University of Bonn). In over 20 years of professional experience in more than 30 software development projects, I have come to know and appreciate almost every role there is in software engineering.

What I love so much about our industry is the variety offered by the constantly changing technologies and the exciting technical contexts in all the different customer projects. In short: it never gets boring!

Apart from technology, I can't keep up with the typical male football topics and if anything, my heart beats for FC Köln, no matter which league ;-) However, I myself actively played underwater rugby, the only 3-dimensional ball sport (before Quidditch existed), for over 16 years between the 1st national league and the 2nd national league. This is the only sport that keeps me glued to the live stream of the World Championships when I'm on holiday.  

When I'm not giving my all for our customers, I've been involved in marine aquaristics for a few years now, investigating questions like these:

How often is the CaCO3 level measured when not using the balling method. 
Is there a connection between the occurrence of cyano-bacteria and the frequency of measurement?

       Or:

Are there any similarities in the measured values in the tanks in which the Alveoproa corals are atrophying? Possibly similar PO4 values?

Of course, the computer science analytics and architecture genes also play a role here, which is why I am pursuing the clarification of these questions as part of a semi-scientific project with business intelligence methods, which is hosted as open source on GitHub:
